You may notice your child bringing home poems, jokes, or playful language from school! Poetry and humor are important parts of learning because they help students understand figurative language—such as similes, metaphors, rhyme, and wordplay. Exploring poems and jokes builds vocabulary, strengthens reading comprehension, and encourages creative thinking. Most importantly, it helps students see that language can be meaningful and fun. We encourage families to enjoy poems and jokes together at home and talk about what the words really mean beyond their literal definitions. Here's one to talk about with your child this week as you discuss that February is Black History Month--join PAWZ in celebrating!

City Park is blessed with many great staff members! Each month, PAWZ provides the opportunity for colleagues to nominate one another for a spotlight moment! This month, Mrs. Allen was nominated. We hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit more about this outstanding educator!

PAWZ is proud to have this team repping the PAW today at the Northwest Regional Tech Competition in Rome, GA!

Ms. Jimenez is learning about living and non living in science! They researched snakes yesterday using books and videos. Today Mrs. Hannah brought in snake skins to compare the difference between a living and non living snake.

Spring Picture Day is coming! Be sure to dress your best and wear your best smile on Friday, February 13!

Second graders are working on their Savvas project based inquiry project with Mrs. Talley and Ms. Hewitt.
