On World Cerebral Palsy Day, we come together to show support and raise awareness for individuals living with cerebral palsy around the world. This year, we would love for our school community to join in!

💚 On October 7th, we invite all students and staff to wear green.

Green is the official color of cerebral palsy awareness, and by wearing it, we show our care, respect, and solidarity with the millions of people who live with CP.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about kindness, inclusion, and celebrating differences. Thank you for helping us create a school culture that values and supports everyone.

We can’t wait to see our school shine bright in green!💚

Students from Ms. Moore’s class celebrated Hispanic Heritage month in Mrs. Argueta’s class. They learned about a Guatemalan dish, “chuchitos” and a Mexican dish, sope. They even had big sister, a former CP student, come and give the step by step directions.

Today is National School Custodian Day, and we want to give a huge THANK YOU to our amazing custodial team!

Our custodians work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. From early mornings to late evenings, they take care of so many details that make a big difference for our students, staff, and families.

We are so grateful for their dedication and hard work — City Park Elementary wouldn’t shine without them!

If you see our custodians today, be sure to give them a big “thank you!”

🍂🐾 It’s PAWtumn at City Park! 🐾🍂

On Friday, October 31, students will hit the CATwalk during Specials for our Fall Fashion Show! 🎉

Students are welcome to wear costumes, fun outfits, hats, or accessories as they strut across the stage for a round of APPAWSE. (Please remember: no weapons, no masks, no frightening/scary costumes, and face paint must allow students to be identifiable.)

We’ll also celebrate our October PAWSitive Panthers 🎖—parents of honorees will receive a special invitation!

Plus, don’t miss our PAWtumn Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser! 🎃

Book-character pumpkins decorated by 4th & 5th grade art classes will be on display. Students can “vote” for their favorite with coins or cash. The pumpkin with the most votes will be declared the winner, along with a special Principal’s Pick of the Patch!

It’s going to be a day full of fashion, fun, and PAWtumn spirit! 🐾✨

October is National Principals Month!

Each October, schools across the country celebrate National Principals Month to honor the hard work and dedication of principals. Principals guide our schools, support teachers and staff, and most importantly, help students grow and succeed.

At City Park Elementary, we are so thankful for our principal, Ms. Rhyne! Her leadership, encouragement, and care for our students and families make City Park a wonderful place to learn. This month, we celebrate and thank Ms. Rhyne for everything she does for our school community.

The official Dot Day may have passed already, but the creativity is still flowing in Mr. D's art classes. Students have created dots manually using spin machines and virtually using the Quiver app!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mrs. Argueta's class enjoyed a visit from some family members of a classmate! The students got to participate in the making of tortillas which resulted in delicious tacos! PAWS loves when multiple generations of a family can come together right here on the 405 Block!

Our student council did a great job this morning at their first meeting! We had several cases of water donated to our school, and they put their muscles together to help get them moved and organized. We also brainstormed a potential fundraising activity to promote kindness in our school. We can't wait to see what all this great group of student leaders comes up with this school year!

Second graders completed their first project based learning assignment this week. Students had to research places in a community, form an opinion on which one they deemed the “best”, and write a persuasive paragraph trying to convince their reader to think the same. Mrs. Kitchen’s class put their tech skills to the test and used Canva to create and display their work. We also want to give a shout out to Dalton State College for sending in a video to help us with our research!

Responsibility: Taking Care of Our Devices

This month, we are focusing on the character trait of responsibility—and that includes how we care for and use our school devices!

Students can show responsibility by:

carrying their devices carefully with two hands

keeping food and drinks away from them

charging them at home

bringing them to school everyday

using them only for learning.

By being careful and following expectations, students help keep devices working well for everyone.
