Dalton, GA. — Dalton Public Schools is proud to highlight The Dalton Academy senior Gabriela Mojica-Nava, who spent a week at the University of Georgia through the Georgia Ready Summer Institute program (GRSI).

The Georgia Ready Summer Institute program is offered to rising high school seniors who have qualified for the prestigious Georgia Certificate of Merit, which recognizes students in the top 5% to top 10% of their high school class at the end of their junior year. Selected scholars are also considered high-achieving students with outstanding GPAs, rigorous courses, and leadership potential. In late May, Gabriela was one of the 50 chosen out of 660 applicants throughout Georgia to spend a week at UGA.

Unlike other college programs, GRSI is considered a pre-collegiate introductory program and is multidisciplinary. The scholars were shown how admissions officers review essays at the UGA admissions office, were given tours of the new medical wings, and were given a research question to analyze during workshops.

ā€œGRSI was such a fun, memorable experience where I met wonderful people who have the same drive as me,ā€ Mojica-Nava said. ā€œIt also opened my eyes and showed me college isn’t as scary as it seems!ā€

Dalton Public Schools congratulates Gabriela Mojica-Nava on her hard work and dedication, and is excited to see her drive and motivation continue to lead her to success.
